This and That - Prayer Room

I'm sure many of you have seen Islamic prayer rooms in many places but this is the first time I've seen a Buddhist prayer room. It was in Taipei Airport. Just next to the Islamic prayer room and a Christian chapel. No Hindu shrine or mini synagogue or druid circle or Baha'i temple though.

Sandy Creek Conservation Park

A month ago went with my friend Luan to Sandy Creek because he wanted to photograph birds with his new camera lenses. Didn't get that many birds but it was a good walk.

The top picture is of a species of Sundew plant, a carnivorous plant (or insectivorous) which traps insects in the sticky 'dew' on its modified leaf. (Click on the picture to enlarge it.) The 'dew' has enzymes which slowly digests the insect up. It grows in nutritionally poor soils and hence needs to get extra nutrients. Notice the sandy soil in the mushroom picture, hence Sandy Creek. This area could have been near the sea thousands of years ago.

And a picture of pretty mushrooms.
